Friday 12th October- Visit to Hyde Park - Serpentine
Description:
Whether you are an au-pair who has just moved to London or a person who has been living in London for some time but still have not seen all attractions London has to offer, we are glad to welcome you for a lovely day around one of the most popular and well- known London parks: The Hyde Park.
This social event welcomes everyone who would like to spend a day surrounded by nature and make new friends while chatting and sitting in front of The Serpentine, the lake which unites Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, at Serpentine Bar & Kitchen tasting a sweet and hot chocolate or a flavoured tea.
During the morning we’ll visit Hyde Park and Kensington Garden to discover the Italian Gardens which are an elaborate mix of four main basins. They feature central rosettes carved in Carrara marble, the Portland stone and white marble Tazza Fountain, and a collection of stone statues and urns.
5 minutes far from the marvellous Italian Gardens, we’ll visit the bronze statue of Peter Pan surrounded by squirrels, rabbits, mice and fairies. Peter Pan creator and local resident JM Barrie was inspired by Kensington Gardens. He commissioned Sir George Frampton to build the statue which has been a favourite feature of the gardens since 1912. Using our smartphones we can magically bring the statue to life thanks to the Talking Statue project.
